“… Son, remember that in your lifetime …” – Luke 16:25
Fresh as the day, the memory of the lost soul remains intact – another source of his eternal misery because he could relive every opportunity he had to settle his case with God and his vehement denial of the blood of Jesus Christ. He would then wish he had made a choice for God. He would remember every tract torn and dumped, every scornful laugh at the preacher’s sermon, every lewd remark made at the young preacher girl in school, every denial of Christ and His cross, every atheistic remarks and his denial of God the creator of all, and would wish he had given his life to God, but it is too late. Such memory will not be wiped off, it will torment the soul more than the fury of the flame of Hell. This is the primary source of regret for the soul lost in Hell. That he had a fair chance at salvation but he blew it. Now he is lost without hope or redemption.
Memory is eternal. In Hell, the religious-radical would remember the face of every Christian martyred and churches destroyed and would wish he was as one of those saints but he is lost without repentance. The murderer hears the cry of that innocent soul like a blast ringing endlessly into his ears and would want to block it out but he cannot. That young lady would hear the faint plea of that baby as the doctor ripped it apart with the edge of the surgical saw on the abortion table, and would cry out with lava-hot ocean of tears. The rapist would hear that lady scream, beg, and plead with him throughout eternity and would want to choke himself to death but would not die in Hell. That poor soul would relive each moment he sat with his phone, computer, or TV watching pornography and abusing himself, and would want to gouge out his eyes but would not be able. The smoker in Hell’s flaming smoke would remember those exhilarating moments when he puffed in the dirty smoke of cigarettes, marijuana, or tobacco into his lungs, but now in eternal smoke would wish he had no lungs at all. The drunkard as he lives in eternal thirst would remember how he wasted himself on alcohol and would wish he was sober all his life but it’s just an empty desire, he is in Hell, not a finger drop of water to cool his burning tongue. The drug user in the ashes of Hell as he relives those drug escapades would wish for another dirty drill or snuff to escape his woe of Hell but will not have it. All perverse souls, the homosexual, the pedophiles, the prostitutes, and all immoral men would remember how they abused themselves and others and would wish they had lived otherwise but it will be too late. God has given them up to eternal misery – their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth (Zechariah 14:12).
Every sinner will relive all his sinful life and would wish it was someone else, or that he had acted otherwise. His immortal soul will live in constant torment of the knowledge of his sin, he would wish that there is a way to block his minds or to erase it but there is none. He would wish that it was another bad dream and could wake up. He is doomed and lost, there is no way out, he rejected the blood of Jesus Christ in his life, now it is too late to plead for mercy. He would wish for a second chance to undo the wrong choices he made but his fate is sealed. Every opportunity for Christ rejected will bite him, he would curse and swear upon himself but he is lost. This indeed is a terrible state, to know what to do but too late to do it. A life of total regret, “as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment” – Hebrews 9:27. He would plead for someone to warn his family and loved ones who could join him soon in Hell but would be refused (Luke 16:27-31).
It is a great danger for the sinner to think that his sins will not find him out, it will in Hell. You may try to block your mind from the horror of your sin here on earth, but you won’t be able to do so in Hell. Your soul will live with the guilt of sin through eternity.
I plead with you to stop; stop now before you breathe your last, and be lost forever. Stop and plead the blood of Jesus Christ now while you can – “the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses all sin” – 1 John 1:7. It doesn’t matter how vile or dirty you are a sinner; God has promised to save anyone who comes to Him by Jesus Christ (Hebrews 7:25), and He won’t deny His words, let the blood of Jesus speak for you now, it speaks far better things more than the blood of Abel. (Hebrews 12:24).
Unerased – memory won’t sink with you in death, you will relive it. The blessedness of the soul in heaven is that the record of his sins has been blotted out by the blood of Jesus Christ. However, the misery of the lost soul is that his sin will be required of him forever. You cannot always reject Christ; a day would come when you’d want to embrace Him but it will be too late. A day would come when you’d wish you had accepted His offer and terms of salvation but then it’s only a wish. A day would come when you will pray for Jesus to save you but it will be eternally late. A day may come when you remember these words and wished you acted upon it. The more reason why you should decide for God today and plead the blood of Jesus Christ for the atonement of your sin.
Nothing is too late on earth in the matter of salvation but everything is too late in Hell.
Unerased – memory relived in regrets or bliss. Decide now!
