And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.
GENESIS 21:19
MESSAGE
So many people cry about their needs ignorantly while God has placed the solution to their problems near them. In every wilderness of life, God has provided a well to satisfy your thirst but your eyes must be opened to see it.
God’s people should learn to believe in God. He has promised to make a way in the wilderness and water in the desert (Isaiah 43:19). Rather than crying, all you need to do is ask the Lord to open your eyes.
In our text and reading of the day, Hagar was at her wit’s end, she thought the child would die and all she did was cry. She did that because she does not know the God of Abraham. Even though God had rescued and helped her the first time, she did not call on God for help. The child would have died but for God’s covenant with Abraham.
Many times God’s people also cry about their situation rather than ask God to help them. Crying itself solves no problem, but when a man cries to God, He will hear and answer.
The servant of prophet Elisha saw the host of the Syrian army surround the city and was afraid. He had no idea that God with them was bigger and stronger than all the army of men. Until God opened his eyes, he could not see a way of escape (2 Kings 6:14-17).
Are you in a tight corner and you have been pinned down without hope of escape? Ask God to open your eyes today. The solution to that problem is close to you, but your eyes must be opened. The Bible says, God opened the eyes of Hagar and then she saw a well of water. If God did not open her eyes, she would have lost her child. The more reason why I am praying for you today that the Almighty God will open your eyes to the solution to every problem in your life.
When faced with the storms of life, do not fear. Do what the disciple did when the storm arose, they cried unto Jesus the master over all storms. He rebuked the storm and there was peace. Cry unto Jesus also in your greatest hour of need and He will show up for you (Mark 4:37-40).
The charge coming to you this morning is to stop crying because it solves no problem, rather, ask God to open your eyes to see the solution you need.
REFLECTION
And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight. And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?
LUKE 24:31-32
Until Jesus opened their eyes, they did not understand the whole redemption plan. But when their eyes were opened, they knew that Jesus rose indeed.
PRAYER
Father, please open my eyes today so that I may see the solution to the problems in my life.
